Client brief and objectives
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is the national accreditation and awarding body in Scotland. They work in partnership with industries, universities, colleges and schools to provide high quality, flexible, relevant qualifications and assessments embedding industry standards where appropriate.
In November 2010 we were tasked with carrying out Usability tests on their new secure website with the aim of finding any areas which may require a redesign.
Our Approach
A detailed test plan was created after lengthy briefing sessions with the client and scenarios for both target groups, centre and school staff were completed.
The tests were carried out under test conditions with 7 participants. Each session involved four phases:
- An informal brief to help put the participant at ease and explain the process
- A brief interview
- Task completion
- Debriefing
Our Results
We provided a final report detailing our findings which included both positive aspects as well as areas for improvement. This enabled SQA to make tweaks to their website improving their user experience.
